Recover files from your iPod/iPhone
Copying songs or videos from Mac to iPhone or iPod with the iTunes app is very easy, but the inverse process is impossible. Luckily for you, you have DeTune.
DeTune does the opposite from iTunes. That is, it lets you copy files from your portable device to your Mac's hard disk. You can copy songs, videos, electronic books or podcasts.
With the other files there is no problem either, since DeTune shows the content of the iPhone/iPod, including system files and folders. That way, you will be able to search for photographs and other important files.

Great! Does what iTunes doesn't!.
See other review without stars...This is great and simple software. So simple see the manual. It's a drag and drop to the Finder to move your iPod music back to the Mac.
Pros:
Works!
Easy!

More batch processing
A short how to on the drag and drop feature in the interface More

iTunes won't restore non-iTunes songs! Use DeTune!.
I thought DeTune on the Mac was great! My system (Mac OS X Mountain Lion) went down and luckily my library of ten years of music from all over the place was on my iPod Classic, but stupid Apple has created the destructive program called iTunes, that only allows copying the iTunes content to the iPod, not the other way. I wonder how many people have lost data hitting "Sync" not knowing it will erase all their music on their iPhone? Stop being the copyright police Apple and make a user friendly music player!Anyway DeTune allowed me to move all my stuff back to my Mac right through drag and drop into a folder in the Finder, put songs into nmed folders with a better, more logical naming format and I recovered 100% of my data, including movies, podcasts and audio books. It does do a weird thing with playlists, where it copies the actual song in the playlist and does it repeatedly if it's in different playlists, but it's a small price to pay in terms of features and it's FREE! It's Great! Use it and tell people! Also use a different player and buy elsewhere. I think I am done with stupid iTunes. More
